Laptop Buying Guide for Bangladesh: Study and Work
A useful laptop budget starts with your software and daily workload. For buyers in Dhaka and elsewhere in Bangladesh, compare the exact configuration and local service arrangements before choosing by brand or discount.
For classes, documents and video calls
Prioritise a comfortable keyboard, readable screen, working webcam and enough memory for your browser and study apps. As a buying guideline rather than a minimum requirement, 8GB RAM can cover light use; 16GB offers more room for multitasking. An SSD improves everyday responsiveness. Check your course's software requirements before buying.
For coding, design and heavier work
Check the recommended requirements of the tools you actually use. Consider 16GB RAM or more for heavier multitasking, and check whether memory is upgradeable. Design work may benefit from a more accurate display; 3D work or demanding games may need dedicated graphics. A processor's full model and generation matter more than an i5 or i7 label alone.
Check portability and power
If you commute across Dhaka, consider the weight of both the laptop and charger. Ask how battery life was measured rather than relying on an advertised maximum. For used devices, inspect a battery-health report and test unplugged operation. If power interruptions affect your location, plan around realistic battery runtime; a desktop-style UPS is not a promise of all-day backup.
Build the complete taka budget
Add any necessary software licence, bag, mouse, adapters, memory upgrade and delivery to the quoted laptop price. Confirm whether the operating system is included and licensed. Compare the same RAM, SSD, display and warranty configuration across sellers. This guide does not quote live prices because stock and offers change.
New, used or refurbished?
Ask the seller to state the condition in writing. For used or refurbished laptops, check hinges, keyboard, ports, charger, display and storage health with permission. Confirm that the device is not locked to another person's account or organisation. Ask about replacement parts and the actual return window; do not assume a used laptop carries a new-device manufacturer warranty.
