Buy Electronics in Dhaka: A Practical Buying Guide

To buy electronics in Dhaka, compare the exact model, the full price in taka and the written warranty—not just the headline discount. Before paying, confirm who will handle repairs, what arrives in the box and how a faulty delivery is reported.

Start with the job, not the discount

Write down what the device must do: online classes, office work, gaming, video editing or home connectivity. Separate essential features from extras. For a laptop, that may mean memory and battery condition; for a monitor, ports and resolution; for a router, coverage and compatibility with your internet connection.

Compare like-for-like quotes in BDT

Ask two or three sellers for the full model code and a written quote in ৳. Include delivery, required accessories, any installation charge and the warranty provider. A similar product name can hide a different processor, storage capacity, display or regional variant. Treat quoted prices as time-sensitive and reconfirm stock before travelling or paying.

Choose a shop or an online listing

For a Dhaka shop visit, confirm the branch address, opening hours and stock first. For an online purchase, confirm your area, delivery charge, expected delivery window and whether inspection is permitted before payment. Do not assume cash on delivery includes an open-box inspection. Manufacturer retailer lists can help you check authorisation; ASUS, for example, publishes a Bangladesh partner directory.

Inspect at handover

Match the model and serial number on the device, box and invoice where available. Check physical damage, supplied accessories and basic operation. For a screen, inspect for visible defects; for a laptop, test charging, keyboard, Wi-Fi and ports. Ask the seller how quickly delivery damage or a dead-on-arrival unit must be reported, and retain packaging until you understand the return terms.

Keep a purchase record

Keep the invoice, payment receipt, listing details and written warranty terms. Confirm the seller's service contact before leaving. Bangladesh Businesses listings are submitted by sellers: a listing appearing on the Product board is not proof of manufacturer authorisation or a guarantee of availability. Check the individual seller's terms before ordering.
